Easter Message 2022

Christ is risen, He is risen indeed. ALLELUJAH

The great shout on Easter Day which fills us with all hope and joy.

​

Lee Strobel writing in his ‘Case for Easter’ says, ‘The resurrection was the linchpin of the Christian faith. After all, anyone can claim to be the Son of God. But if someone could substantiate that assertion by returning to life after being certified dead and buried – well, that would be a compelling confirmation that he was telling the truth’.

​

  The old hymn says:

               Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son,

                Endless is the victory. Thou o’er death hast won.

​

This is the moment we have been working towards during the six-week season of lent. This is the time which is indeed the ‘linchpin’ of the Christian faith.Other faith may have great leaders but none have returned from the dead.

​

Cardinal Archbishop Basil Hume of Westminster, once wrote, ‘This life is a period of training, a time of preparation, during which we learn the art of loving God and our neighbour, the heart of the Gospel message, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing.

​

The ultimate union with that which is most lovable, union with God, is the moment of ecstasy, the unending ‘now’ of complete happiness. That vision will draw from us the response of surprise, wonder and joy which will be forever our prayer of praise. We are made for that.’

​

Yes, we are made for the great joy and happiness that Easter brings. May we never forget that endless is the victory, that death has won and constantly give thanks for the Great and Wonderful Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
